M&S for Homewares?

Yes and we show you their new designs here.

Somehow homewares isn’t the first thing that springs to mind with M&S. Many of us still think of it as a knicker emporium or a place to buy delicious food. As their trade figures show they, like many high street retailers have falling sales and appear to be lost and not sure in which direction to go.

However, having said that, I think they have an inspired homewares team and some very nice covetable designs as their Spring and Summer 2020 collections show.

The first of the four key trends for SS20 is Modern Sea Scapes, including lots of texture, aqua, stylised pebble designs and not a sailing boat or anchor in site.

The second collection is called Sandstone and is a collection based on that colour and also the dusty pink of plaster. It is warm, sumptuous and inviting.

Next up is the Urban Glamour collection, clean and green with more than a nod to hotter climes with a bit of wild jungle thrown into the mix.

The final collection is called Simply Neutrals and includes some very nice looking dining furniture, lovely ceramics and a cupboard with an oriental style decorative front.

They have some really fabulous bed linen designs and textural ceramic vases that will look good in any home.

For summer there is some elegant outdoor rattan furniture and some light weight bamboo picnic platters and mugs.

All in all it is a collection that is flexible, well designed and would suit most homes.
